a-guide-to-blue-meanies-mushroomsBlue Meanies is the common name for Panaeolus cyanescens. These species of mushrooms turn dark blue when picked, hence the name. Blue Meanies are one of the more potent psilocybin-containing mushrooms.

These mushrooms can grow globally in tropical and temperate environments. If you are not aware of Blue Meanies, you could easily miss it while foraging for the more well-known Psilocybe cubensis. The good thing is Blue Meanies are available as one of our magic mushroom strains in British Columbia!

Rumor has it that Panaeolus cyanescens or Blue Meanies were named after the Blue Meanies from The Beatle’s psychedelic film “Yellow Submarine.” It also has other names in different places, which may cause confusion to some. To identify these mushrooms, take note of their light grey to off-white color with yellowish or brownish tones. Its caps are approximately 0.5 to 2 centimeters in diameter that look hemispheric at first, then expand to a bell-shaped or convex shape at maturity.

Just like our other magic mushrooms in Vancouver, British Columbia, Blue Meanies are a popular choice because of their potency. Its effects may come quickly due to the higher levels of psilocin than psilocybin. It produces a high that is physical, visual, energetic, introspective, and euphoric. The effects begin anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour after ingestion. Just be careful not to take any more until at least 3 hours after the first dose. A trip can last for 4 to 5 hours.
